"I had the pleasure of spending the Chinese New Year in Taiwan as this year it fell in February, while we were in-country for our projects. The atmosphere is unique compared to what I’ve experienced before, the city was full of colour. There were lots of people dressed up, and a whole week of fireworks. I’ve been fascinated by the culture here, everyone has been very friendly, both in day-to-day life in the city as well as my colleagues at work. Local people have been very interested in who I am and where I am from, it’s been great to share stories about our different cultures.
I am currently working on the Greater Changhua site in Taiwan as a HV Technician. I wasn’t sure if the work would be different here, I’ve found it is actually very similar to projects I’ve worked on in Europe which has been great. The majority of the team’s work has been HV Commissioning, mainly focussing on the testing of switchgear and transformers, as well as first energising.
The team are great, we are all pulling in the same direction and there is a great mutual respect and trust between everyone. There is also fantastic communication across all the different departments at Swire Energy Services, who also offer many development opportunities so you can really progress in your career. It’s a great working relationship!"
