Swire Energy Services have been supporting work placements for over 10 years at our Head Quarters in Aberdeen. Through the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire Council, Swire offers secondary school pupils the opportunity to undergo a week long placement at our Altens office and yard facilities.
During the week pupils have the ability to work across several areas of our business, helping to give students a better understand of overall work operations and the industry sectors Swire Oifield Services supports.
This week we have had students from two local Aberdeen schools participating in work placements. Over the week the pupils spent time with a variety of teams in our business including Commercial, IT, HR, Finance and different divisions of Yard work.
Swire Energy Services is dedicated in investing in the future and are delighted to be playing a small part in helping the next generation of engineers, health and safety officers, commercial managers and inspectors.
Tracey Garden, Head of HR for UK & Africa commented ; "Swire Energy Services is dedicated in ensuring part of the sustainability efforts takes into consideration training and development opportunities for the future workforce, helping to ensure the preservation and success of our industry. We as an organisation are very aware of the future skills gap in the oil and gas industry due to the worst downturn since the 1980s and hope by creating work experience opportunities it gives pupils an insight to our industry, which may go some way to assist in narrowing that gap."
