ASCO and Swire Energy Services announce collaboration to improve supply chain efficiency

Posted 17 Mar 2016

Swire Energy Services, the world’s largest supplier of offshore cargo carrying units, has secured a contract with ASCO to support the company’s operations along the Norwegian coast.

The six year contract, with the opportunity for extension, will see the two companies work together to increase efficiency and reduce costs in the supply chain for ASCO and its customers.

As well as supplying a range of DNV rated cargo carrying units, ASCO will implement Swire Energy Services’ track and trace technology, OverVu®. The solution, which uses a combination of auto-ID technologies, will allow ASCO to identify, locate and track equipment throughout the supply chain.

“Collaboration throughout the supply chain is vital in the current climate and we are proud to support ASCO and their customers operations across Norway,” said Swire Energy Services’ Norway General Manager, Manfred Vonlanthen.

Nick Coaton, Swire Energy Services’ Track and Trace Solutions General Manager added: “The oil and gas industry is facing increasing pressure to focus on operational efficiency and OverVu will provide ASCO with an accurate, real-time view of assets and equipment throughout the supply chain which will, in turn, support more accurate decision making, asset management and cost control.”

Runar Hatletvedt, Managing Director Northern Europe at ASCO commented: “The contract was awarded to Swire Energy Services based on their commitment to health and safety, quality and innovation and we are looking forward to working closely with them to drive efficiencies in the supply chain.

“The current climate has provided the opportunity to challenge existing operations and the adoption of OverVu signifies our long term commitment to optimising the supply chain.”
