Swire Energy Services will be supporting two organisations, Victim Support Scotland and HANDSS Group, at this year’s Celebrate Aberdeen event taking place over the 26th and 27th August.
The weekend-long city event has been running since 2011, with the aim to celebrate community spirit, civic pride and encourage volunteering within the local area. The event supports around 130 diverse third-party sector organisations, bringing together over 3500 attendees across the city over the two days.
Ashleigh Martin, Swire Energy Services UK Head of Commercial commented “We are delighted to be supporting this year’s Celebrate Aberdeen event and of course the two incredible local organisations. Aberdeen is an important part of our UK business and company history, so it is great to be able to support the city and the local community in this way.”
Victim Support Scotland is a charity that provides support and information services to victims and witnesses of crime in Scotland, with the organisation supporting over 200,00 individuals affected by crime each year.
HANDSS Group is an Aberdeen City and Shire volunteer club that provides crafts, sporting activities and a safe and friendly environment for children ages 5 to 15 years with learning or additional support needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD.
Celebrate Aberdeen founder Morven Mackenzie said: “We are entirely dependent on the support of our corporate sponsors to ensure that the parade element of Celebrate Aberdeen can go ahead. It’s thanks to them that all the charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups get to take part in the event for free and carry a banner on which their organisation’s logo appears.
“We’re therefore delighted that Swire Energy Services has decided to support the event this year. Through Celebrate Aberdeen we aim to promote the third sector, show how diverse it is and how important it is to the city, and company’s like Swire help us to do that. The people who parade do incredible work – many on a voluntary basis – so it’s fantastic to give them the recognition they deserve.”
