Swire Energy Services (SES) has recently taken delivery of its new fleet of electric forklift trucks. Working with long-term supplier Groundwater Lift Trucks, SES procured ten new Kalmar Electric ECG trucks, ranging from 8 to 16-ton capacity. Built on the tested and proven G-Generation platform, the new range of completely electric powered forklift trucks deliver both power and performance, while minimising carbon emissions and fuel costs.
Sustainability is a top priority for SES, one that is reflected in our commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. As the energy transition develops globally, it is paramount now more than ever that SES is powered by clean and sustainable energy sources. That is why we take pride in initiatives like this, that demonstrate meaning and purpose towards our commitment to an environmentally sustainable future for SES and our planet.
Across our global operations, diesel-powered forklifts represent a major source of CO2 emissions. The commissioning of these trucks will save circa 250 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per annum, a significant contribution towards our global reduction target. 2021 will see SES reduce emissions by 27% when compared to our base year 2019.
On the forklifts’ arrival, Andy Moig, Group Sustainability Manager at Swire Energy Services commented: “We are committed to aggressively reducing our scope 1 direct emissions. To achieve this, we are continually seeking out the most advanced technology to replace carbon intense equipment and processes. This is why we are so please to be working with Kalmar and Groundwater on this important step towards our carbon neutral goal”.
The commitments in investment and initiative towards achieving carbon neutrality are undoubted, but this is only the beginning. We are already underway with expanding our electric forklift fleet into other key locations like Norway and the US. Swire Energy Services recognises that the world needs to act swiftly and decisively to reduce carbon emissions to mitigate damaging climate change, and as a company, is fully committed to supporting this.
In no uncertain terms, Swire Energy Services is committed to Net Zero by 2030.
