Swire Energy Services, the world's largest supplier of specialist offshore cargo carrying units (CCUs) to the global energy industry and their Malaysian partners; Altus Oil & Gas Malaysia Sdn Bhd have announced the milestone of 1,000 units on hire in the country. Malaysia, and especially Labuan, has played a key role in the tremendous growth Swire Energy Services have achieved in the Southeast Asia region.
In February 2012 Swire Energy Services delivered 40 CCUs to Altus Oil & Gas Malaysia’s yard in Labuan starting their joint business venture in Malaysia. The following 18 months have seen very rapid growth, a reflection of Swire Energy Services reputation for quality and technical capability and Altus’s operations performance. During this high growth period Altus Oil & Gas Malaysia, a Petronas-licensed company and affiliate of the Swire Group of companies; has invested in providing concreted yard spaces, qualified personnel, stringent HSE procedures and services and the utilities needed to run a 24-hour operation to mobilise, inspect and maintain CCUs and offshore modular systems
Michael Ellsworth, Group CEO of Altus Oil & Gas said, “We have grown from an initial 40 units to 1000 units in a very short period of time, which is an outstanding achievement for the team. Our growth in facilities and employment in Labuan has mirrored the growth in units. We have grown from a 2000 sq meter open yard to a 8000 sq meter in Labuan and from a team of 2 to a team of 15 personnel. Similarly, the company is expanding in Kemaman with a new 4400 sq meter yard and 4,000 sq meter covered warehouse.”
He added, “Our business development and operations team have been working very hard and diligently to drive progress and improvements to realize this significant milestone”.
