Swire Thrive – Net Zero 2030
Posted 05 Mar 2021

The transition to a climate-neutral society is both an urgent challenge and an opportunity to build a better future for all. Our journey to carbon neutrality is already well underway, Swire Energy Services (SES) is committed to net zero carbon emissions by 2030. We’ve built a sustainable business for over 42 years, this is our pledge to an environmentally sustainable future for SES and our planet.

SES will undertake projects across the entire globe to cut emissions, spearheaded by Andy Moig, Group Sustainability Manager. 2021 will see us reduce our emissions by 27% from our 2019 base year. This is a huge step in the right direction and a commitment that the global business is right behind.

This year will see SES focussing on making significant investments to demonstrate our sustainability commitments. We are increasing investments in on-site renewable energy, process automation and electric vehicles. Alongside the investment, developing a culture of sustainable thinking is important. This will be achieved by increasing our focus on sustainable procurement & managing waste through a circular economy approach.

For our customers, working with us is an opportunity to work with a company constantly striving to be the easiest to work with in the industry. Now our customers will also be working with a company whose environmental commitments are aligned with the energy industry and its transition.

Our parent company John Swire & Sons, founded in 1816 with over 133,000 employees globally, is leading the way with its commitment to being industry leaders in sustainable development across the Group’s diverse portfolio of businesses. John Swire & Sons’ “Swire Thrive’’ campaign focuses on the belief "When we help the world in which we operate to thrive, so do we", one we believe in wholeheartedly at SES.

This year you’ll see SES’s commitment in full swing, and as part of this we will be sharing with you the incredible work being done by our teams all over the world. From exciting solar panel developments in Macae, Brazil to electric forklift trucks in the UK, we’ll be promoting the efforts of our staff, the efforts which make a real difference to our planet.

In no uncertain terms, Swire Energy Services is committed to Net Zero by 2030.
