OEUK Visit Swire Energy Services Altens Base

Posted 19 Apr 2023

Last month we welcomed some of the team from Offshore Energies UK to our Swire Energy Services base in Altens, Aberdeen.

Offshore Energies UK is the leading representative body for the UK offshore energy industries. Working together with their members, they are a driving force for supporting the UK to meet its net zero ambitions. We are proud to be a member of OEUK and it was a great to have the opportunity to give the team a full tour of our facilities.

They had the unique opportunity to get up close to our automated blast and paint robots, met some of the UK and Global Swire team and even got hands on by carrying out some sling and container inspections!

Our Business Development Manager Calum Lawrie commented: “It was a pleasure to host the team and we look forward to continuing our partnership with OEUK. We have recently deepened our connection with them and proudly sit on a number of their forums, which provides Swire Energy Services with the latest market intelligence, opportunities to engage across the supply chain and insights into the latest policy developments; all in turn allowing us to make informed decisions regarding future activity.”

After the tour our Group Sustainability Manager, Andy Moig led a discussion around our initiatives to reduce carbon emissions and increase efficiencies. He covered our recent progress on our journey into reducing Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and the progress we have made towards achieving our target to be Net-Zero by 2030.

Katy Heidenreich, Supply Chain and People Director at OEUK added “This is a great example of how one of our member companies is transforming its expertise to support the energy transition and create a future built on clean energy aligned with the aims of the North Sea Transition Deal.

It was good to see the ambitious targets for greenhouse gas reduction outlined by Swire Energy Services in its Decarbonisation Strategy and how it has delivered a 65% reduction in emissions since 2019. The energy transition presents a huge opportunity for the UK offshore energy supply chain, and we are working across the industry to identify where support is required to successfully grow an all-energy supply chain with globally exportable expertise.
